General Conference Biking & Blading

Eric is the clerk for the ward and so he sets up the internet feed and screen for those who would like to watch General Conference at the building, and our family was one of them. We got rid of our cable and instead of watching via our internet which stops at irregular intervals to reboot, we decided to watch at the building. Eric left early to set up and then the kids and I rode bikes to the building.

At the two hour break, we went outside and burned off some energy via bikes and blades.

Xela came in rollerblades. Because she and Aurora bike everyday to school, she wanted to get some time in the mode of transportation that she enjoys. Ro would sometimes pull her while the boys tried to catch up.

Xela might have helped with some pushing sometimes. Maybe.

The boys took turns in the cart and let me push Neta on their bikes as well. She hasn't mastered the bike riding thing yet, but is learning.

I love General Conference. There is a peace, reassurance and hope that can be found as you listen and absorb the spirit that comes from two days of talks. It's even more enjoyable the second and third time around as I've reviewed them. I'm grateful for the knowledge of a Heavenly Father who doesn't leave us alone, but provides prophets and apostles to share His message and love for His children.

The Children's Museum - last two trips

Xela has become our unofficial photographer. Here are a few pictures she took on our last trips to the Children's Museum. Eric took the kids to the Children's Museum the day before it expired for one last hurrah. Here are some pictures that Xela took of their day.

Grandparents Hibbert usually renew the pass each year. This year, we decided we wanted to get out pool up, so instead of renewing the museum pass, they bought a liner for the pool. We haven't gone to the museum as much lately, but the pool, we will use every day (unless there is rain) in the summer and early fall.

Xela is officially a teenager

I can't believe my baby is 13! Time passes too quickly. We had a little family cake and presents on the 16th and then did a friend sleepover on the 21st.

I've been letting the kids decide how their cake is decorated and Xela is old enough, she made her cake, I frosted it and then let her have at it with decorating. Above is a not so good picture of her cake. As you can tell, there is a battle of various Lego figures. The kids like sucking the frosting out of the Lego legs.

We did a friend party on the last day before spring break. Xela made pizza's for each of her friends (after taking their order at school) and girls started coming around 6. Pizza's were ready to eat when friends arrived. They ate and then I took them bowling. Piper Kelly had a broken arm so the rule was that everyone had to bowl with their non-dominate hand, to make things fair. I had bumpers put up because, well, that's kind of obvious. We didn't want a game of all zeros (not saying that they are all horrible bowlers; look at the scoreboard below). They seemed to enjoy themselves quite a bit.

Xela got her ball stuck on the wrong side of the bumpers.
She started to walk to retrieve the ball, slipped around,
then decided to crawl. Having not bowled much in 13 years,
she didn't know you're not supposed to cross the line. OOPPS!



I believe Piper was player #2 with a score of 92.
Xela was #1 or #3, so she didn't do too bad.

We came home, they shared their stories of triumph and silly blunders with Eric. Xela opened presents and then they settled in the living room to watch some Disney movies and "sleep." I had to work the next day so Eric took care of breakfast and pick ups. I think all in all, the girls enjoyed themselves.
